The Rouletters arrived in full force to share their best sincerest lies.

Birdman 313 talked about the lies, lies, lies he had to sort through.

Jennifer Preiss came to terms with the age-old lie about age.

Robert Bayless danced the truth with a transwoman through salsa.

Donna Dechen Birdwell read an excerpt from one of her novels about a questionable scientific experiment.

Stephanie Webb shined the spotlight on a liar she knows the best–herself.

Teresa Y. Roberson recited her list of sincerest lies, concerning love, religion, family, work, and the truth.

Thom the World Poet, accompanied by Daniel Davila on clarinet, poetically danced his way through the truth about life’s lies.

Nori Hubert revealed her matrilineal truth found in her Pandora’s Box.

This magical show could only be hosted by a magician.

The Rouletters came on Mothers’ Day to reveal their magic words.

They also came to celebrate their 1st Anniversary at Malvern Books. 

For her first trick, the magician made half the cake disappear.

Then, she tended to some paperwork.

Sydney Chandler read an excerpt from her enchanting tale, “The Moonchild Falls.”

Amy Rose discovered her magic word unexpectedly.

Erik Corredor expressed the power of the spoken word and being in love.

Brian Grosz learned the value of getting out…especially when a woman tells him to!

Teresa Y. Roberson ironically stated there were no magic words until someone believed  in them.

Anyah Dishon shared a song, inspired by her visit to Macchu Picchu.

Thom the World Poet, accompanied by Magic Jack ATX and Anyah Dishon, sprouted many magical words.

6.12.2016 AWR: This Changes Everything

This roulette started off with a uniquely poetic tea.

There were 20 different cups since, according to couplet rules, everyone had to choose a cup which resonated with them. Check out the “mugshots” at the end of the post!

Poet-musicians Udelle Robinson and Magic Jack ATX warmed up prior to the show. 

Finally, the Rouletters were in place for the most candid group shot ever. (Note how half didn’t realize pictures were being taken.)

Magic Jack ATX demonstrated how everything changes instantly, punctuating his poetry with his guitar and Udelle Robinson’s ukelele.

Brian Grosz, fueled by vodka, cigarettes and heavy metal, spun a tale that put Kevin Bacon to shame.

Teresa Y. Roberson spoke of a love gone wrong when a man falls in love with an illusion and a woman is an ever-evolving survivor of natural selection.

Thom the World Poet, accompanied by Magic Jack ATX, rapped about the twisted legacy of political actions against the common people.

The Rouletters started off with a treat: specially labeled candies to see the type of women in attendance. Hershey Kisses for women who think size doesn’t matter. Twix for women who share men. Almond Joy for the single horny women. Reese’s Pieces for the cheap women who think a man really bought them something. Special Dark for the mature single woman who’s never married but still believes in true love with the proverbial tall, dark, and handsome. Mr. Goodbar represents women who have unrealistic expectations of meeting the perfect man. Kitkat for orgies. Payday represents divorcees since once their marriage is over, all they want to do is cash out.

Stephanie Johnson helped herself and dared anyone to analyze her choices.

This month’s roulette was hosted by a cultural chameleon, adaptable to many financial niches.
